Customer Question

Have one year old female toy poodle and one year old cockapoo..both female spayed got them a 8 to 10 weeks.
Not trained at all..I personally have been doing actual rescues for 45 years.
Now due to my age and my husband being 18 years my senior with alzhiemer disease .
I am caring for him at home with no help or support systems..the pups are my only and main comfort
They are happy and good canines but not trained other being completely paper trained and are free to be let out in large yard with trained for an installed electric fence.
They are healthy and happy..but not trained at all with obedience.

My name is ***** ***** I’ve been involved professionally with dogs in the health and behavioral fields for over 18 years. It will be my pleasure to work with you today.
You don't need to go to training classes with your dogs to train them. You do need to have a structured training schedule. In other words, try to perform your training sessions around the same times each day in the same area each day. The idea behind the training is that you practice the same command or commands over and over again until the dog doesn't think twice about obeying and does so immediately.
The following site is great at teaching owners howe to teach their dogs basic obedience. Be sure and click on the link to the page on obedience at the bottom. and links on subsequent pages leading to detailed instructions.
Training works best if you train at least 30 minutes a day (two 15 minute sessions). I would start making your dog work via the Nothing in life is free program (NILF). It is outlined below.
Now you can give them commands at other times of the day and give them nice calm praise and even treats like the hot dog slivers that are a great treat to use when training, but don't mistake that for the structured training they need during the day.
Some people prefer clicker training so let me give you a great site on that type of training method.
