Customer
Okay i will stay on the chat thank you
Customer
Sorry I'm just really worried

I need to clarify the following to help me understand further.

  1. In what way is Joey acting strange?
  2. What are the meds the cat takes he may have eaten?
  3. Is there anything else he may have eaten?
  4. Any changes in his diet?

Thats ok its only natural to worry. Did you get my questions ok?

Customer
Out of nowhere he's been obsessively staring at the ceiling / floor and sniffing lot. He almost looks scared or looking for something. I took him for a walk and he acted completely fine. Once we got back inside he started up again
Customer
I tried to give my cat his onsior pill earlier (6mg) and i thought he took it. I didn't see him spit it out. I fed my dog around the same area i gave my cat the pill and around 20-30 mins after my dog ate he started acting this way
Customer
I'm worried i might have missed my cat spitting it out and my dog might have eaten it
Customer
My dog is 11 pounds Maltese chihuahua

Ok so Onisior is also a med that can be given to dogs too and the usual dose is 1-2 mg per kg so for Joey he wouldnt have had too much if he did manage to get hold of it

Customer
He is responsive, and drinking water and walking/ running around just fine. Hes just acting very scared and not himself at all. He never does this

has there been any unsual sounds or changes in or around his home that could be causing some anxiety?

Customer
Not that i can think of

No changes to his diet or a new treat or anything like that?

has he been toileting ok recently? No changes to his poo or pee?

Customer
He had just finished his treat that he has every night
Customer
When i took him outside he peed and pooped normally
Customer
Acted completely normal outside but very weird inside

Yes its strange its only happening inside which makes me think that there is something he sees or hears (maybe you cant) that is making him feel anxious

Is his breathing ok and he isnt showing any sign of muscle tremors or disorientation that maybe he could have eaten something else?

Customer
I don't know how to explain other than he seems very scared and out of it a little bit. The way he looks at the floor and around him makes me think he's hallucinating

His heart rate is normal?

Customer
Heart rate normal, no tremors and breathing normal
Customer
A bit of random sighs but that's about it
Customer
I can't think at all anything else he could have eaten
Customer
I know my mom has medication, but she keeps them locked in her room and her door is shut

The possible side effects of the med wouldnt even cause this behavior unless he is feeling a bit unwell which can happen with Onisior

Customer
He's finally winding down and going to sleep

It is possible that he is allergic to the medication which is causing this but usually this would also be accompanied by vomiting etc

Customer
Occasionally lifting his head to stare off

Do you have benadryl in the house?

Customer
I don't think so but maybe
Customer
I can look
Customer
Should i be worried if he's going to sleep now?

Its just something that can be given to a dog for anxiety. Its a safe med and if the anxious behavior continued, you could try giving him a dose of it to help calm him down.

what time is it where you are? Is it night time and when he would normally go asleep?

Customer
Yeah i don't have any /:
Customer
Hi
Customer
It's 2:10 am
Customer
He normally goes to sleep with me around his time

Ok so its normal then for him to be tired especially if he has had an extra walk. Try to get him to drink plenty of water as this can help flush the med out if he took it and can help reduce its effects if it is it that is causing the issue.

Customer
I held him for a while to calm him down and it seemed to work.
Customer
He did just drink some water before i held him

It does sound like he has had a bit of an anxiety attack. To what, its going to be difficult to say if there is nothing apparent

Customer
I'll make sure i have a bowl close by for him

Yes try to get him to drink water periodically through the night. I am here for another 7 hours if he is still acting strange during the night or you are worried. I will keep the chat open until the morning for you and just close it off before I finish my shift if I dont hear from you

Customer
Okay thank you so much i really really appreciate it
Customer
I actually do have a bit of a silly question. I did have an anxiety attack before joey started acting weird and when Joey started acting weird my anxiety got worse and Joey started acting worse. Do you think he picked up on my anxiety attack and i caused him an anxiety attack? Is that possible?

Yes it is possible that he has picked up on your mood as they are very in tune with their owners especially if you have a close relationship

Customer
We definitely do he's by my side 24/7 lol

Thats lovely. Hopefully now you are calming down, so will he

How is little Joey doing now?

I am going offline in 20 minutes but I do hope little Joey is doing ok.
