Welcome to Justanswer! I am Dr. Altman with 20+ years of experience and happy to assist you both today. Please give me a few moments to respond and I will be back momentarily! As veterinary experts we are unable to prescribe medication to a pet not personally examined by law. In doing so risks my veterinary license. I am unable to assist with telephone calls if requested per my state guidelines and this will lock the question to my responses so please do not request

Sorry Marley ate this bone

The good news is that chicken bones are hollow and malleable so hopefully will be digested by the stomach and minimize the risk of damaging the intestinal tract as they pass.We cannot induce vomiting because the sharp edges risk injury to the esophagus on the way up so there are a few precautionary things to minimize the risk of damage to the intestinal tract but at the first signs of vomiting it is time to take your dog to the veterinarian and have them evaluated/ x-rayed

- Feed a 1/2 piece of bread now

- Take a nice walk to help move the bones through. Not running around but a leash walk which helps encourage emptying of the stomach and digestion

- In about 2 hours repeat the bread which is used to help bulk up the bones to hopefully push it through and protect any ingested edges from causing damage

- Again tomorrow a few nice long leash walks to help encourage gi motility and pushing the bones through the intestinal tract

- Feed a bland yet bulking diet of white rice and lean boiled meat for 48 hours

This is the difficult part, the watching and waiting because all we can do is see if it passes on its own without causing any damage as it goes through...

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you both
