Hello, I am Dr. Paul. Thanks for connecting with Just Answer.
Please know that I am unable to tell how long you have been waiting for a response – I am sorry if it has been awhile. There are many of us on the site at various times. When I log on, I try to work from the bottom of the list as well as scan for any serious emergency requests and respond to those as soon as I see them.
Poor Faith! Adderall contains several different amphetamines, to which dogs are more susceptible than people. I calculate Faith’s exposure to be about 3 mg/kg, which is the level where moderately severe signs of toxicity are seen (agitation, hyperactivity, tachycardia, increased temperature, tremors, seizures); very mild signs start at 0.5 mg/kg and a lethal dose is 10-23 mg/kg.
Faith should be seen at a veterinary ER as the signs of toxicity may worsen over the next 12 hours. Treatment may include decontamination with activated charcoal, IV fluids, thermoregulation, heart and blood pressure monitoring and anticonvulsant medication to treat seizures, etc.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Best of luck with Faith! Thanks again for connecting with Just Answer.
