Welcome to Just Answer. My name is***** have more than thirty years of experience in the veterinary field. I’m happy to help with your question today. But please bear with me if I need to ask you some clarifying questions first. Thank you!

However before I can start I need a little more information to make things clearer for me, so could you please confirm the following :

1. How long ago did this happen { How many minutes or hours ago }?

Customer
She ate it on Sunday around 9pm so more then 72 hours

Got it thanks, ***** ***** by, I am typing up your answer right now.

My aim is to get an initial answer back to you within the next ten minutes.

Customer
She ate it on Sunday around 9pm so more then 72 hours

I know you must be very worried about how this will affect your dog so I have very quickly typed up an answer for you below ...

1. Firstly be aware that it is true that there are reports coming out in the professional literature that in a very small number of cases dogs have suffered toxicity from eating very small amounts of grapes. But please understand that this is an extremely rare event. It is now too late to induce vomiting since 72 hours have passed.

2. I have to say though that in my experience over the years normally a 15-pound dog would not be in any danger from swallowing just 2 grapes.

3. Another reason for me saying this is that the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Centre studies suggest that the lowest documented toxic dose was 10 to 12 grapes in a 20-pound dog. You can check this information via this link: https://www.petplace.com/article/dogs/pet-health/grape-and-raisin-toxicosis-in-dogs/

4. Since 2 grapes are below the toxic level for your dog's weight as quoted above in the article above you will be taking very little risk in just monitoring your dog for now. The chances are that your dog will be just fine.

But in any case, I should be available online for you for the next four or five hours today so please do not hesitate to get straight back to me in the very unlikely event that your dog's condition changes in any way or indeed if you would like to talk things over with me further.

Regards,

Dr. Scott

Customer
Thank you so much! This made us feel better and she's not showing symptoms. Would you recommend getting blood work done to be on the safe side?

With just two grapes blood work should not be necessary.

The chances are that your dog will be completely unaffected.

Dr. Scott

Customer
