Is it both Sophies eyes or just one?  Is the eye itself red?

It could be conjunctivitis or allergies.  I would consider getting plain eye lubricant from the pharmacy, its an ointment over the counter.  If it continues though, she may need antibiotics, so I would then make an appointment with your vet to get treatment

Im sure its worrisome I dont think you necessarily have to but its  better for her to just rest
