I rescued a dog in December 2019. He came from a very bad
He came from a very bad past & was abused as a puppy. Possibly hit in the head but he has burns all down his back. He then spent a year alone in a shelter before we got him (around 2yo) he took a while to adjust at home and very slowly calmed down. However, he never truly calmed down. Around March he started becoming aggressive. First it was if we got near a toy, then it was if he wasn't feeling well or in pain he would attack. There are 0 warning signs for his attacks. No growling or teeth showing—it's 0-100% immediately. I've been bit several times, one causing an emergency room visit. We even sent him to a board and train for a month (april-May) but since bringing him home, we still are having issues when he's in pain. It's an immediate attack. He is SUCH a cuddler though throughout the day. You would have NO idea he was an angry dog. He plays, he snuggles, he sits in our lap. He cannot get close enough to us. But now we're afraid that one wrong move will set him off. We're not sure if anxiety medication is our next step or if it's something in his brain that can't really be fixed with medication & we'll have to put him down. … read more
