Lefler: We have an eight month old full-bred German Shepherd
We have an eight month old full-bred German Shepherd puppy. He has not yet been neutered and has a little blood mixed in with his semen discharge. Our vet just prescribed simplicef for a two-week period because he has a small infection. He is almost done teething (thank God) but his ears have not yet come upright. They are in airplane mode. They do pop up periodically- more so before the teething process began. I did read that calcium production affects both the ears & teeth, and am wondering a couple of things. 1) when the teething started the frequency of ears going up slowed down. Then they started up again and as more teeth came in the ears stopped going up. Do you know if there is a correlation between calcium and ears? This is the 5th shepherd we've had and all the others ears came up prior to them getting their adult teeth. The vet thinks possibly they will not come up. My 2nd question is this: is it possible that the small infection he has could be inhibiting his calcium production? Sorry-lots of questions. If his ears don't come up we are still keeping him- he will look like a puppy forever even though he is now about 85 lbs. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Cindy Sears … read more
