Uh. My dog Coco was diagnosed with liver cancer in May after
My dog Coco was diagnosed with liver cancer in May after routine blood work showed high liver enzymes. We then went on with a lot of tests. She is 12 years old shitzu-yorkie. She was not sick and had been acting herself until last Tuesday. She is a big eater normally. After taking her to the vet, she said it was pancreatitis.. she was given an antibiotic shot, b12 shot & anti nauseous shot and fluids and said she should feel better. She did not feel better. She wouldn't eat, she was shaking & trembling. The vet then prescribed 100 mg gabapentin & 5mg prednisone. The gabapentin makes her look really drugged & sleepy, but does seem to help. Today is the first day she has any interest in food. I have offered her everything, but nothing appealed until I had a turkey sandwich. She ate a plate full of Turkey & her other favorite is an orange. Although she looks like she lost weight & seems weak. I'm praying she will continue to improve, but it seems to be taking such a long time. She also hasn't pooped in 8 days. I read that you shouldn't stop the gabapentin suddenly, but how do you get off of it? She seems so sensitive to medicine. It makes her really doped up … read more
