Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

One grape should not hurt Lizzy even if she is only 4-5 pounds. Is she having any signs of symptoms today of concern?

She keeps having diarrhea and vomiting. The diarrhea looks milky and slimy. We took her earlier today to the vet and they tested her for parvo and it came back negative and he said that she must of ate something that upset her stomach but we were on the Internet and we seen that if she had ate a grape a could kill her.

No, one grape would not kill her and one grape should not make her that ill.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

If she ate a two cups of grapes that could cause toxicity.

Should I be worried about the vomiting and diarrhea

I do not think it was the grape. She could have another virus besides parvo, or she could have a bacterial gastrointestinal infection. She could also have eaten a non-food object or she could have also eaten something besides the grape. Yes,, definitely be on top of the vomiting and diarrhea. That needs to be diagnosed and treated.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

I am not going to tell someone to worry but if she keeps having vomiting and diarrhea definitely take her back to the vet.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Does that make sense?

we have an appointment on Monday is there something I can give till then

When did you take her to the vet? They did not prescribe anything? Are they still open or open tomorrow morning?

We took her about 3 hours ago and they are not open till Monday

They just said she does not have parvo. Take her home? No medicine?

not to force her to eat today.

You can give her pepto bismol. 1/4 teaspoon every 8 hours as needed. Feed her a bland diet of plain cooked chicken and rice. You can give her one teaspoon of children's pedialyte every other hour until her vomiting and diarrhea stop. You will have to use a syringe or eye dropper to get the pepto and pedialyte in her.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

You can rub honey or karo syrup on her gums every 3-4 hour to help keep her blood sugar up until she is eating normally again

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

You can give her 1/4 of a 10 mg Pepcid Ac tablet, crush in water in your syringe, every 12 hours for stomach upset. It can be given with the pepto bismol.

Ok thank you so much

If there is blood in the stool, she becomes very lethargic, the diarrhea is water like, her gums turn pale or purple, or she can not keep water down for 12 hours or more she will need to see the emergency vet.
