Customer Question
We have a 12...

We have a 12 year old Yorkie female who has been losing weight, good appetite and appears in no pain. She is showing blood in her stools. We hesitate to take her to our local vet as we could not afford surgical care or treatment. She shows no symptoms of discomfort, disorientation, or respiratory problems.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What is the Yorkie's name?

She is Maggie.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about the Yorkie?

A few weeks ago, she was due for teeth to be cleaned and some teeth removed. Our vet felt her kidneys were not well based upon lab work prior to anesthesia. BUN CR elevated to high normals.

Have there been any changes to the diet? New food, including a change of flavors or protein source within the same brand? New treats? Bones? Has any human food been fed in the last few days (even if your pet regularly receives it)? Torn up toys or trash? Stressful changes to the environment? Addition of medication? Toxin ingestion?

Were her teeth cleaned at that time or only bloodwork performed?

Did your vet prescribed a diet or medication for treatment?
