I am sorry to hear you are concerned about Chewy. How does he seem constipated? Usually dogs that are constipated are straining and pushing, trying to defecate.

How long has he been not eating?

About three days...we are thinking it's due to his love of paper towels.
Dog Veterinarian: Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian replied 2 months ago

Paper towels should pass, and not make him stop eating, and lose weight.

Is he straining to defecate? If not, he is probably not constipated.

He is straining.
Dog Veterinarian: Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian replied 2 months ago

If he is straining, there may be constipation or a blockage in his colon. He should have a veterinarian do a rectal exam; if it is paper towels then pulling them out manually, or giving a safe enema may be needed. There is no safe over the counter enema for dogs; even ones made for infants are not safe for dogs.

What about suppositorys?
Dog Veterinarian: Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian replied 2 months ago

I would not recommend that until I had examined him to be sure it is safe. Most ones made for people are not safe in dogs. If there is a wad of paper towels in the colon, suppositories and enemas may not help; we usually have to reach in and manually remove them.
