Our little dog (9 pound toy poodle, 5 years old) has been diagnosed with epilepsy. They prescribed phenobarbitol, 15 miligrams. I've been watching side affects of dogs on phenobarb, and it's not pretty. They stagger and don't get around very good. Holly has about 4 or 5 a year.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Seizures always look scary. Let's get you talking to the Veterinarian. What is the dog's name?

Her name is*****: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Holly?

Her seizures are like she freezes up, can't stand on her legs, can't lift her head, lasts about a minute

They have a very transient period of lethargy and maybe sedation and that is it

Usually within 3-4 days they are fine and have NO adverse effects from the drug after that
