My two Male dogs had a fight and one of them has a wound…

Customer Question
My two Male dogs...

My two Male dogs had a fight and one of them has a wound before left ear that won't seem to close. Yesterday it was scabbing perfectly and then this morning it is wide open and small amount of blood in wound. I cannot afford to go to the vet. What can I do at home to close it?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Is the dog bleeding a lot?

Absolutely not. if I apply a washcloth to the wound barely any blood goes on the towel.

Veterinarian's Assistant: The Expert will know what to do about this bleeding. I'll connect you ASAP. Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about the dog?

Mam, I am not worried about the blood. I want to know how to close the wound

Thanks for responding. But what about the questions about my dog?
Dog Veterinarian: DocPaul, Veterinarian replied 23 days ago

Okay

We do NOT want to close that up

That is how they get infected

I want you to scrub the cut with hibitane (2% chlorhexidine) twice daily and then rinse

It will heal in the next 5-7 days time on its own

Okay?

Paul

I am curious to why you say do not close it?
Customer reply replied 23 days ago
Where do I buy the product you recommended?
Dog Veterinarian: DocPaul, Veterinarian replied 23 days ago

Because it traps the infection on the inside

Unless you want to get it surgically closed-> That is ideal way

You can buy the hibitane at pharmacy OTC

Paul

Okay if we do not choose surgery will he be okay? I don't have the funds now but if he needs it I will come up with it.
Dog Veterinarian: DocPaul, Veterinarian replied 23 days ago

For sure

Just let it granulate in and keep it clean with the hibitane

Paul
