Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

1- How many hours has it been since he ate the chocolate?

2- Type of chocolate (milk, dark, etc.)?

3- How many ounces or grams did he eat?

4- Do you have hydrogen peroxide 3%?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Hi.
1) anywhere between 6-830 is when he ate the chocolate.
2) a few mini dark chocolate 3 musketeers, a few mini bags of m&ms, 1 Carmel apple sucker, 1 other type of sucker, a couple mini bags of m&ms with peanuts and maybe a couple mini snickers
3) I would say at least 1.2 oz of dark chocolate. And maybe around 2.5-3.5 oz of milk chocolate
4) I believe we have hydro peroxide 3%

1- I am sorry, giving me time is not going to help as we may be in different time zones. How many hours has it been since he ate the chocolate?

2- Is he showing any symptoms?

I’m sorry!
It would be anywhere from 2-4 hours agoNo symptoms yet... he’s always pretty hyper so it’s hard to tell.

Please give me 5-10 minutes to type your answer. No need to accept the phone call request. Thank you.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Friend, chocolate toxicity is very dependent on the amount consumed, type of chocolate and weight of the dog. In this case, it is not likely for the amount of chocolate that he ate to be life-threatening or systemically toxic. He may develop mild gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea.

I don't expect this to happen, but, as a precaution symptoms that would require an ER vet visit are hyperactivity or profound lethargy, muscle tremors, excessive panting, etc. If no symptoms after 24 hours unlikely for any symptoms to develop.

My goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you have any follow-up questions don't hesitate to ask. If finished, please take a moment to rate my service it is how I get compensated. See you again soon!
