Ok, is she still eating? Any vomiting or diarrhea?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
She was eating last night and I haven't seen her take a bowel movement since this morning which was fine
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,
 replied 4 months ago

Ok, good. Is she circling to the same direction every time or just more wandering around?

Would you feel comfortable taking her temperature rectally?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Always circling the same direction to the right then curled up tightly to the right also. How long do I leave the thermometer in for. Not sure if she will let me. I can't even hold her right now
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,
 replied 4 months ago

Ok, thats ok. If you do want to try you would just leave it in until it beeps or the numbers stop going up.

How long ago did her puppies wean? Has she been having any vaginal discharge?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
They warned at about 8 weeks fully and no discharge
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,
 replied 4 months ago

Ok, can you lift her lip and check her gums and see if they are nice and pink?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
They are dark purple
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,
 replied 4 months ago

Ok. How are her mammary glands? Any firmness, discharge, redness, or heat?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
No firmness. One seems a bit swollen. Not red but her whole stomach is very hot
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,
 replied 4 months ago

I'm concerned she could have a fever if she feels that hot. My main concerns would be an infection of some sort, either uterine or even mastitis.

The circling to the right could indicate a balance problem (vestibular disease). When you look at her, does she have any rapid eye movement?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
they are very bulgy and very dilated
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,
 replied 4 months ago

Are they moving back and forth quickly?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
No
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,

Ok, thats good. Does she have an history of ear infections?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
No never had one. Never been sick once
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
To get her last puppy out she had a Caesarean section though.
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,
 replied 4 months ago

Ok, and that was 3 months ago right? I assume her incision is all healed up?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
three months ago and it healed very quickly and well.
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,
 replied 4 months ago

Ok good. Sometimes an ear infection can cause them to circle like that. Its good that she is eating still, however, I'm concerned that she could have a fever based on your description of her belly and nose being hot.

In a dog thats 3 months post partum, breast or uterine infection is a concern. That could certainly cause the panting too.

I think the best course of action, especially since its been a couple of days, is to have her see your veterinarian as soon as possible. She needs to have some bloodwork assessed to check her white blood cell counts, calcium levels etc.

I think the only things you can do at home at this point are monitor her eating and drinking and keep her comfortable.

Please post back with further questions!

Make sure she is drinking water so she doesn't get dehydrated!

I just tried feeding her and she won't eat or drink any water at all. So I tried giving her a small piece of steak to see if she would take that and she turned her nose up to that too
Dog Veterinarian: Sarah Snow,

Poor baby. You could try an eye dropper to drop some water in her mouth if you have one.

You can also rub a little kayro syrup on her gums to keep her blood sugar up
