Hi, this is Dr. Thompson. I’ve been a small animal veterinarian since 2000. Thanks for your question. I understand you are concerned because your dog Bella is not eating. Is that correct?

A few more questions will help me give you a better answer:

1. What kind of dog is Bella?

2. How long since she ate normally?

3. Was the long yellow thing in her stool an object she ate?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 18 days ago
Bella is a pit/terrier
Last time she ate normally was friday
It was on her stool, at a point it was hanging for a bit. Not something she ate
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Thompson, Veterinarian replied 18 days ago

In a case like this where a dog passed a foreign object in the stool recently then stopped eating and started vomiting, I'm concerned about a gastrointestinal foreign body causing an obstruction. There are a few ways to diagnose this and may include: abdominal palpation by a vet, x-rays, a series x-rays with contrast solution given orally and/or ultrasound study.

Other possibilities for what could cause vomiting, lethargy and poor appetite include eating something that didn't agree with her (common), organ problems such as kidney or liver disease, and toxin exposure. The yellow stuff on her stool may have been mucous which is a common thing that happens when dogs have something upsetting their GI tract.

After 3 full days of not eating, I strongly recommend you have her seen by a vet very soon.
