Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What seems to be the problem with the dog?

He has been diagnosed by a vet with eneritis. he's on antibiotics for a few days, but he's actually been getting worse. He is a 10 year old lab. He has trouble getting up. He won't eat, but he does drink water. My main question is, I've noticed a weird smell coming off his breath. It's like astringent, like chemical and sour and sharp. His breath has never smelled like this. And I worry it's a sign of something worse than the stomach issue.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help the dog. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the dog?

He's on anti nausea pills but he still won't eat. He coughs violently that turn into gagging and sometimes throwing up.
