Welcome to JustAnswer.com! My name is***** and I have been a licensed veterinarian for 10 years. I would be happy to answer your question. I'm sorry to hear that your puppy is not getting up. Has he had any vaccines? Is he able to sit up, or is he always lying down?

Lying down sleeps a lot.has gotten a bit better today.feed boiled chicken breast eats with vigo. We have to kinda force regular water,so I use the chicken broth for hydrates.also give Pedigrees puppy moist.getting slightly more resistance in his legs.forefront stronger left rear stronger .

There are a few things in a young puppy that can cause these signs, including weakness from intestinal parasite, low blood glucose and liver disease, to name a few. You mentioned that the parvo test was negative. Were any other blood tests done?

His latest poo was a lighter color tan not dark brown. Firm then loose with mucus? Tried to give 5 in 1.shot went through and wet his coat.just a parvo.Popeye we love him we are disabled and seniors. The pup is a gift.we do not have many funds to test. Tried to contact Boxer rescue,no luck What can poor folk do if notm

Has he been given any dewormer? You could get some over-the-counter to give to him in case he has a bad intestinal parasite infection. He may have a liver shunt, which is a congenital abnormality with the blood vessels to the liver. Does he get sleepy especially after he eats?

Husband will buy dewormer which one?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Rachel, Dog Veterinarian replied 26 days ago

The active ingredient should be pyrantel.

Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Rachel, Dog Veterinarian replied 26 days ago

That does sound like a liver shunt. Basically the abnormal blood supply to the liver causes build up of toxins in the bloodstream that cause them to be very sleepy. I would keep trying to reach Boxer rescue for help in addition to giving the dewormer. There is a test that can be run at the vet called a bile acids test that shows whether or not his liver is working normally or not. I would call around to different clinics and ask how much they would charge for that and an exam. I would also keep trying to reach Boxer rescue to see if they can help in any way.

Got a worm er in Popeye. He really perked up.wants to play even though he cannot pull himself to stand or sit.we are encouraged that his spirit is high. Pooped about darker less runny an hour after wormer. Thought we saw worms. Still big apatite.Would like to see him want plain water. He still drinks the water from the boiling chicken. We are trying still adding Water by bottle. We feel Popeye might make it. Still sleeps A lot.about a quart of water total daily . Will keep informed. I am brand new to JustAsk. Terrific concept. Thank you from Ma'Lise ,Pedro, Popeye Gonzales.

Oh I just noticed that his eyes lids are swollen. Before the illness he had very little to no mucus. Then very mucus Now less mucus though his eyelids are swollen. Should we try keeping his eyes clean? Popeye barks sometimes a playful Spirit. I guess we need to get the bile acids test? Popeye's inability To pull up to stand then walk keeps us puzzled. If we stand him up he can stand long enough to relieve himself. He does try to groom himself. Just so strange that he lost the ability to stand walk please

Popeye can sit up occasionally pulls himself up and walk some then he falls. He drags himself into the house. gave him more wormer. Popeye has A swollen gland in his neck. Can we give colloidal silver as a antibiotic? Still good apatite still playful. Please advise. Thank you
