My 7 year old german shepherd has injured her hind leg, coming down the stairs. Its been two days and she is still having trouble bearing weight on it. I have a short video. Finances are really tight but I adore this dog. Is there any way for me to be able to rule out a dislocation on my own?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What is the matter with the dog?

Has injured her right rear leg coming down the stairs.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Where does the dog seem to hurt?

Right rear leg.

Veterinarian's Assistant: OK. What is the dog's name?

Shelby

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Shelby?

No. otherwise healthy dog.

Thank you for making sense of this injury. To recap: You're concerned about a possible tear of her right rear anterior cruciate ligament. Rest her for two more days with cox-2 @ 2mg per kg. if she's not better in 48 hours, this indicates the possibility of a tear, versus an injury of that ligament. I will update you tomorrow, Doc Paul. Thanks so much. I really like you process.

Correct and you are very welcome :)

Hi Paul,
You wanted an update re Shelby, the German Shepherd with the possible torn ACL. As I expected, she has not improved at all. Im going to give it one more day to improve or not and then start selling off the children to pay for a probable surgery. There are some really good clinics in Boston. For the surgery. Not the children. Ill let you know tomorrow but I think youre correct. Mags

Thanks for the update!

Shelby is beginning to bear weight. Shows some improvement every day. I think she does not have a tear, or she wouldn't be improving. Im glad I consulted you. Im impressed with this service.
