Hi there. My dog - a small white rescue - we think a havanese/poodle, just started wimpering in a way I haven't heard before. I can't seem to pinpoint any source of pain, but when he stands to shake his head, he shakes a little and then won't continue. Wondering what to do.

Hi Dr. Paul. He's just about 5.Still eating, but hasn't drank anything. No lameness, but he seems very low-energy.No discharge from the ears. He's clearly not feeling very well, and is hiding under chairs or hopping into my lap which he rarely does without a treat.Wondering if there are any tests I can do before taking him to a vet?

still here. Please call!

The first thing that came to mind was Addison's disease

This affects middle aged white dogs

This can cause depression, inappetance, lethargy, etc etc

We also have to consider acute gastritis and pancreatitis

I will try and call again now

Hey Paul,Just got back with pedialyte and aspirin. Beemo still won't drink, but he ate a little, and now he just ran into his crate. This seems alarming to me. Not sure what to do here.

Lets give him some time to relax

You gave the aspirin?

Paul

No not yet. I could only find adult low dose aspirin at 80mg per pill. Is that ok?

That is perfect :)

It is a conversation we (dog people) had at the off leash today. One person said that a dog should never be given cheese as it cuases pancreatitis.
