Hi my staffie has just eaten half a Cadbury cream egg, it's the 1st time she has ever eaten chocolate. She is 9.5 years old and weighs 20kg, will she be okay?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. The Expert will know if the dog will be able to digest that. What is the dog's name?

Ana

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Ana?

No, she seems okay at the moment but I'm worried

Hi, I'm Dr. Peter. Welcome to JustAnswer. I'm reviewing your question now and will post back with your reply ASAP.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

1- How many ounces of chocolate in the egg?

2- Type of chocolate (milk, dark, etc.)?

3- Do you have hydrogen peroxide 3%?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
1.4 ounces (40g) but she ate half that so 0.7 ounces (20)g
Milk chocolate with fontana filling
I don't have hydrogen peroxide
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I do not require a phone call thanks

Friend, 1.4 oz or 0.7 oz of milk chocolate will not be toxic to a 20kg dog; no need to worry. At worst mild gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting or diarrhea. But, very likely you will see no symptoms.

My goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you have any follow-up questions don't hesitate to ask. If finished, please take a moment to rate my service it is how I get compensated. See you again soon!
