I have albon, but I do not think it is coccidia as I have not noticed any blood associated with the diarrheaI am a dentist.....I thought about metronidizol 1000mg bid

Diarrhea can continue for several days from this. Coccidia is species specific, so you do not need to worry about parasites from this ingestion. I would feed a bland diet of boiled chicken breast mixed with white rice for the next week, and give a dose of human probiotic twice daily (or a tablespoon of plain yogurt twice daily). If the diarrhea becomes severe enough that the dog stops eating, or if the dog starts vomiting, you will need to see a veterinarian. You can give 1 tablet of Immodium A/D twice a day for 1-2 days, but no longer than that. Metronidazole can be given, but you need to be careful with dosing because it can cause neurotoxicity... we try to stay between 10mg/kg and 15mg/kg BID. 1000mg seems like a VERY high dose. Good luck!
