My 6 m.o. puppy...

My 6 m.o. puppy has thrown up twice since Sunday evening (Sunday at 10pm and Monday at 12 am). The first instance was fairly green and contained a few christmas lights from a household decoration. It was the green plastic part and not the actual light itself (the decoration has been removed). The second instance was more brownish in color and more so lumpy rather than runny. She has pooped about three times that I can recall since Sunday... Wait. She just did four. They are normal in color, size and texture. She did eat her poop on Saturday afternoon. She is still playful and energetic as usual. Her appetite has seemed a little bit lessened than usual, but she just cleared her bowl when I sat with her for her dinner. She is still drinking water as well. She has not vomited tonight at this time.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did the puppy eat anything unusual?

The plastic of the Christmas lights. She threw about 3 of those up on Sunday night around 10

Veterinarian's Assistant: What is the puppy's name?

B

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about B?

Not at this time.

Welcome to JustAnswer.com! My name is***** and I have been a licensed veterinarian for 10 years. I would be happy to answer your question. I'm sorry to hear that B has had some vomiting. It was probably due to the piece of plastic she ingested causing stomach irritation. If she has any more vomiting, a decreased appetite, or lethargy, I would be concerned about an intestinal blockage and get her to the vet for abdominal x-rays. For now you can give her some Pepcid to help settle her stomach. About how much does she weigh? Also, is she up to date on her vaccines?

She is 5 lbs and is up to date. She had her last vaccine on 3/10/18.

Okay, good to know she's had all her vaccines. You can give her a 5 mg Pepcid tablet to help settle her stomach, and monitor for vomiting, decreased appetite, and lethargy.

At the moment I am planning on taking her to the vet if she vomits again tonight. Do you think thats an okay plan or should I plan to take her either way?

I think your plan is good. I do not think you need to take her in if she does not vomit again.
