I'm Dr. Sarah, a veterinarian with over 10 years experience and am here to help! I am reviewing your question and will be back with a reply.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

I'm so sorry Cesar if in apparent heart failure. It sounds like you're on appropriate medicines, but that he is having difficulty breathing despite that. If he is not improving then he needs to have injectable versions of those medicines, along with other medicines that can only be given in the clinic. Once he's breathing better then he can likely be maintained on the oral medicines you have.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Again, I'm so sorry Cesar is breathing hard. Definitely get to your vet as soon as you can (or an ER if it's not open for several more hours).

Let me know if I can help in any other way. Kindly consider rating my answer; you can always get back to me with questions and updates after rating.

Thank you. My vet will be open again in 2 hours. I believe he does need to be hospitalized and thank you for confirming that. Does his not urinating indicate kidney failure?

I can't say for sure...it could be that he's just holding all his extra fluid in his lungs. A blood panel would confirm that.

Hope Cesar does well! Keep me updated.

He died on our way frantically trying to get to the vets before they opened. I'm devastated. My vet did everything you suggested. No vet cardiologist would see us for Weeks not even when my own vet called to beg. He had a heart attack literally on our way out. I'm not over it and never will be. He meant everything to me.

I'm so sorry. Take comfort in knowing you did everything you could for him. Heart disease can worsen rapidly...I'm so sorry this happened to you.
