Customer Question
Our soon to be...

Our soon to be 13 year old female lab started to stand and her back end went out on her. It seems to be her right hip that is unresponsive.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What seems to be the problem with the dog?

She can't stand. We put her on a towel and pulled her across the wood floor and got her out into our garage onto her large dog bed. She's quivering and breathing rather hard.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Where does the dog seem to hurt?

Doesn't seem to be in any pain. No yelping or moaning. She just can't stand.

Veterinarian's Assistant: OK. No obvious pain. What is the dog's name and age?

Jaz and she'll be 13 next month on the 15th.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Jaz?

Not that I can think of.

Hi Dr W here. I' sorry to hear this. There are several things that cause these types of syndromes such as an FCE (fibrocartilagenous embolism), intervertebral disc injury, anterior cruciate ligament injury, and others. Is it possible to take her to a vet for some x-rays or a CT scan?
