Good morning - I...

Good morning - I have a nine week old pug that will not eat. I have been to my vet 3 times this week trying to figure out what is wrong. We brought him home last Saturday and he ate like a champ - Sunday morning woke up throwing up with diarrhea. Took him to the emergency vet to check for Parvo - negative. They sent me home with dextrose. We were told by the person we got him from that he was eating Royal Canin so that is what we fed him. Since then we have tried chicken breast and rice and now I am feeding him Hills urgent care with a syringe and he hates it. I am also giving him water in a syringe since he is not drinking much. On Friday vet starting treating him for Coccidea and he is also on Kaopectate for the diarrhea. He is very dazed and no energy even after I get what little bit of Hills down him I can - he spits it out. He liked the dextrose so much I found a recipe for puppy food that has sweet potatoes, peas, rice and chicken breast. Is it safe to try this? Im at my wits end with force feeding him every 2-3 hours

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the pug?

And unforatunatley we think we got scammed and ended up with a puppy from a mill. We got 2 pugs from them and the little girl is doing great ok

Hello. My name is***** and I am a veterinarian that can answer your question. I understand one of your pugs has been having issues with vomiting, diarrhea, and a lack of appetite. I am sorry to hear about what is happening. I am glad to know the parvovirus test was negative. You mentioned your veterinarian is treating for coccidia. Was this diagnosed on a fecal exam? Was a fecal exam ever performed to rule out other intestinal parasites?

We have done several fecals with no Coccidia showing up - my vet said that we should go ahead and treat him due to the symptoms. There have been no other intestinal parasites found.
