My dog has been acting a little strange the last day or so. I sad to say I haven’t been home much but when I am I noticed a few things. He isn’t as excited to see me or my husband when we get home, and normally he’s going crazy, he isn’t eating much, and overall he just seems not himself. We were pretty worried something was going on, but figured we would give it a day. Last night when we got home he was excited to see us but when we rubbed his back he gave out a big yelp, and it wasn’t the excited kind like normal. I’m going to take him in to the vet today, but any ideas as to what could be going on?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about your dog?

Nope. He’s a 10 pound maltipoo. Just had his 6th birthday.

I am sorry to hear you are concerned about your Maltipoo. How old is he?

I just came online and saw your question; I am sorry you have been waiting for an answer.

This sounds like he may have back pain, from an inflamed disc, or a pinched nerve. Taking him to your veterinarian for and exam and pain medication if that is what is happening, is the best thing to do. Until then, keep him confined and quiet.

If you lift his lip to check his gums, are they pink in color?
