Hello, I'm Dr. Deb and will do my best to help with this concern about Cian.

The dose of Pepto Bismol that I suggest is 1/4th mg per pound of body weight either 1-2 times a day. While this drug is often of benefit if stomach issues such as vomiting or nausea are present, I'm not certain that it would be the best medication for his current issue. It won't be harmful but I don't know how helpful it will be.

Another option which might be more effective are medications which contain Simethicone such as Gas-X or Phazyme......human anti-gas products. The dose is somewhat empiric but I typically suggest 1/4-1/2 of what we would take for a similar issue.

I hope this helps, Deb

Thanks that is super helpful! I always mix up the uses of Pepcid and Gas-X. Could I give him both just to be safe? Or is it better not to mix them and just do Gas-X then?

You're more than welcome.

Both medications can be given concurrently although I might wait 15-20 minutes between them. I'd probably give the Gax-X first and then follow it with Pepcid AC if you wanted.

Increased activity can sometimes also be helpful when gas issues are present.
