She ate a synthroid ...

She ate a synthroid

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What sort of animal are we talking about?

75 mg

Veterinarian's Assistant: Maybe I'm confused. I thought you had a problem with a pet. Is that correct?

She is an Australian shepard

Veterinarian's Assistant: The Expert will know if the Australian Shepherd will be able to digest that. What is the Australian Shepherd's name and age?

I dropped it

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about the Australian Shepherd?

And before I could get it she are it

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

I am sorry to hear this has happened.

I will need a little more information to better help you.

How much was eaten: was it a single 75 microgram tablet or was it more than that?

Is your dog on any medications right now?

How long ago was the medication ingested?
And last, how much does your dog weigh?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

She is 50-60 pounds. 75 mg max. About 9 months old

I see.

I just want to make one thing clear, the human medication is typically 75 mcg or microgram, not mg or miligram. There is a very large difference. If she ate 75mg, that is a big problem, if she ate 75mcg, there is no problem at all. Please just confirm this was a single 75 mcg tablet and not a very large number of tablets that equal 75mg.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

There are tablets in mg, which are typically for dogs.

Mcg

That is perfect!

There will be no issue with your dog eating one of those. It is not enough drug to cause any issue in your dog. She would need to eat about 15+ of those to be an issue. Your dog should be just fine!
