My dog is having a hard time keeping his eyes open

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What seems to be the problem with your dog?

He doesn’t keep his eyes open long unless I’m playing with him. When I say his name, he looks up for a few seconds and then goes back to sleep. His eyes are red

Veterinarian's Assistant: Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help your dog. What is the dog's name and age?

Jackson is 11, king charles

How long has he been like this?

Is it both eyes affected?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
The last few days. Yes he closes both eyes frequently. Right now he’s barking at the TV at dogs so he seems great at times. He’ll chase the tennis ball and go on walks
Dog Veterinarian: Veterinarian101, Dog Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

Ok. It does sound like he has a severe conjunctivitis or possibly uveitis.

COnjunctivitis is usually cause by allergies or bacteria.

Uveitis can be a little bit more severe but usually they are quite painful and will not want to play (with the tennis ball) etc.

How many hours until your local vet is open (I am in a different time zone)?
