Hi my puppy is vomiting and her gums are pale. Should I be concerned?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did your puppy eat anything unusual?

Not that I know of but sometimes when she is in the yard she chews sweet gum pods. She is being treated for Giardia

Veterinarian's Assistant: OK. The Expert will know what to do. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about your puppy?

Just that she is a 16 week old basset hound

Hi

Dr. Paul Brazzell here

How many times has she vomited?

When was last time?

Blood in vomit or stool?

Wants to eat and drink still?

Vaccines current?

She’s vomiting again now
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
Just bile

Yeah

I think that she should be examined

It is going to be impossible to get her hydrated tonight without IV fluids

They can also x-ray her abdomen and give anti-vomit meds

Thank you again for your help.
The emergency vet gave her subcutaneous fluids and some anti nausea medication. They also tested her for parvo which was thankfully negative. She is on a restricted diet alternating food and pedialyte. She is much better this morning!

Great job

Thank you for the update

One last question please. All the subcutaneous fluid has not dissipated.
It’s lumpy but soft. Is that anything to be concerned about? She got the fluid at approximately 8pm last night

Nope- that is fine- it means that puppy was not that dehydrated

All good!
