Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Is he drinking as usual and is he able to keep water down? Is he having diarrhea? How lethargic is he?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
he drank a bunch this AM and kept it down, He had a small drink a little while ago and threw it up. He walks on his leash just fine. Got excited to get in the car. maybe a little subdued excitement. then he lays down and sleeps and seems extra sleepy.
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
He had diarrhea last weekend and it went away but it seems softer than usual

Thank you, ***** ***** stable right now.

Try giving him an over the counter stomach acid reducer. The vomiting of yellow foam can indicate too much stomach acid from an upset stomach.

If he is 23 pounds, give 1/2 of a 10mg Pepcid AC tablet every 12 hours.

You can pop it down his throat, put it in a small treat, or crush it and give it with water in a syringe or eye dropper.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

If he just has an upset stomach, that should help.

Withhold food until he has not vomited for 12 hours.

Then start him on a bland diet of plain cooked chicken and rice.

Start with just one bite and make sure he can keep it down for an hour before giving him more.

I never thought of the dropper. Thanks. I'll do that now. hes with me at work sleeping under my desk.

It is probably a good idea to make an appointment to see the vet tomorrow. Because it is the weekend. Then if he is better you can cancel the appointment. If he is still vomiting, and not eating, then he can keep his appointment. That way you can avoid the emergency clinic.
