Hello, I am Dr. Nicole and I would be happy to help you with your question. I am sorry about Logan. I am working on a response and will be back shortly. Couple quick questions: Was there any change in diet or treats? Any exposure to anything unusual or changes in the home that could be stressful?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

I am just wondering if you received my questions? So we have the option of being conservative and treating for mild stomach upset if nothing has really changed. We can try to give Logan some Pepcid AC, Famotidine, and see if it will help to calm his stomach. If you provide me with his weight, I can give you the dose. I would also withhold any treats and stick with either his food only or bland easily digestible foods like rice, low sodium chicken broth, chicken....

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Sometimes if we just give these dogs some time, rest the stomach and then offer small intermittent meals, they will heal on their own. Obviously if there is something more serious then he will likely not improve and you will have to take him in for an exam and further evaluation.

There is a switch in diet and treats he was on Rachel rays food and I was switching him to Merrick food by the way they described he’s roughly 60lbs give or take

There wasn’t anything stressful or changes in my home

Ok. So that could absolutely be the cause. For now I would recommend that you simple go back to his old food or bland foods as suggested and you can give him some Pepcid AC, 15 mg twice daily to help calm his stomach. Again, just feed small meals until we are sure that he is feeling better.

Ok it was weird tho he did eat chicken with Italian spices on it and vegetables it was about 4 or 5 pieces

Well it is good that he is still interested in eating. Just offer small amounts though and it things are not getting better or he seems to still have an upset stomach, then either try to just rest his digestive tract until tomorrow which means no food, only water and Pepcid AC or just offer very small amounts of food and see how he responds. I hope that helps. Obviously if he is doing worse then I would recommend taking him in for an exam in case there is something more severe going on. I will check in with you tomorrow. Please let me know if you have any more questions. I am happy to help. Also after the rating this conversation will stay open for about a week so keep me posted. Sincerely, ***** *****
