Hello, this is Dr. Schmidt. Thank you for using JustAnswer. What was the exact product that she ate because there are a lot of varieties of NyQuil and I want to make sure I give you the best advice possible.

She ate "Vicks NyQuil Serve".
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Schmidt, Dog Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

Thank you for the information. I worry the most about the Acetaminophen in this product, which is very toxic to cats. At this dose, I would be concerned with liver toxicity, anemia, and GI upset. The anemia and liver toxicity can take 12-24 hours to take effect. I would recommend taking her to the vet tonight for treatment. This will avoid a more serious issue later on.

She is a dog...not a cat. Does that make a difference ?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Schmidt, Dog Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

I apologize, give me a minute to calculate the dose based on that. Give me a few minutes please.

Okay
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Schmidt, Dog Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

This would still be over twice the toxic dose of acetaminophen for a dog. I would go ahead and take her in to the emergency vet tonight as you would expect all the same toxicity issues in a dog that I had outlined previously.

What signs/symptoms should we keep an eye out for ? We are almost certain she ate the pill but not one hundred percent positive. As of now she is acting completely normal with no signs of sickness. If she ate it would there be obvious signs of ingestion?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Schmidt, Dog Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

You're going to be looking for signs of vomiting, diarrhea, not wanting to eat, and lethargy mostly. If the liver and red blood cells become compromised the effects won't be immediate, so it is better to take her to the vet for treatment so that that does not become a problem down in a day or two.
