I think he ingested...

I think he ingested fiberglass insulation. I'm not sure how much if he did eat any at all. He's a 4 1/2 lbs 1yr old morkie.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. The Expert will know if the dog will be able to digest that. What is the dog's name?

Sancho

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Sancho?

He vomited 2 small amounts but is extremely lethargic

Hello, I'm Dr. Luke and I would be happy to help you with your question. I am so sorry about your pet. I have over 19 years of experience as a veterinarian and I'd like to help. Are you available to discuss this situation online at this time? (if you get a phone call prompt from the system, please disregard as I am unable to do a phone call at this time).

How long ago may he have eaten the fiberglass?

How long has he been lethargic?

Is he eating?

In the last few hours I think.
An hour
No not eating or drinking

Ok.

What did he vomit up? Any fiberglass?

Is he so lethargic that he will not move at all or will he get up and move if encouraged?

Has he been well otherwise?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I didn't see anything in the vomit.
No he's not wanting to move on his own.
He was fine all day

Ok.

I am actually quite concerned about his health. Not wanting to move, not eating and some vomit sounds serious. If this is caused by fiberglass insulation, it would not usually cause all these symptoms so suddenly. I am worried there is something else going on.

I am concerned that Sancho is in pain and/or possibly dehydrated. It is not possible to provide adequate pain relief or fluids orally. You need to take him to your vet. If they are not open then you need to get to your ER vet now.
