You're speaking to Dr. Michael Salkin. Welcome to JustAnswer. I'm currently typing up my reply. Please be patient. This may take a few minutes.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

No, the carbon is non-toxic. The only concern is obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract which is a risk if the packet were ingested whole and Bella were a small dog. How much does she weigh, please?

Customer reply replied 4 months ago
She is 10 lbs. I don't think she ingested the whole package. There are still a lot of particles left on the ground when I found out she ate the desiccant.

That's good to hear. The package opened. There's no need to induce emesis or treat in any manner. Please respond with further questions or concerns.

Do I need to feed her with food so she can poop them out? Thanks

It's not necessary but adding psyllium seed (Metamucil, for example) at a dose of one teaspoon to each of her next three wet food meals will act as a bulk laxative and hasten excretion of the carbon. Please continue our conversation if you wish.
