Customer Question
My dog Luke is...

My dog Luke is a black Lab. He was an adoption so I don’tt been a know his true age; but his vet said at adoption he was approx 8 yrs. well that was 2010. He is almost 16 yrs. He hasn’t

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry that Luke is feeling poorly. What is wrong with Luke?

He sleeps a lot, can’t make it outside to the bathroom 1/2 the time, he doesn’t eat much, his back legs are not working 1/2 the time - the muscles have deteriated.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help Luke. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Luke?

He’s been a great friend & loving, happy dog up until 5 mos ago or so

Thank you for giving this guy a great home during the past 8 years. I'm always so appreciative to those owners that open up their homes to the older pets that need adopted / a good home. Has he been on any medications here recently? With older labs that are not using their rear legs as much, having muscle atrophy and mobility issues - arthritis in their hips and knees is a very common diagnosis. These cases are ones that I try and help owners realize there are medications from their vet that can be started up that can help them to regain mobility and vigor that they had a couple years ago.
