I am sorry to hear you are concerned about Cooper.

If the patch was used, there should not be any medication left to make him sick. However, if he is a small dog, the actual plastic patch could cause a blockage. How much does he weigh?

My wife changes the patch every 3 days

How big is the patch? How long ago did she get it?

Dog Veterinarian: Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian replied 6 months ago

Sorry how long ago did HE get it?

If it was large, like over 2 or 3 inches, and he just ate it, it might be a good idea to try to make him vomit.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Dog Veterinarian: Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian replied 6 months ago

You would put 1/2 teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide in some milk or ice cream and get him to drink it. He should vomit it up, if the peroxide is in date, and if he got the patch less than an hour ago.

It’s about 1/2” x 3/4”

Something that small should pass. How long ago did he get it?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

45 minutes ago he is not as hyper as he normally is
Dog Veterinarian: Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian replied 6 months ago

If there was any fentanyl left in the patch, it could affect him. If you are worried, an emergency clinic would have the antidote to fentanyl (naloxone) to give him if he gets drowsy or his breathing gets slow.

You could call ASPCA poison control; they have the most information about things like this. (###) ###-#### There is a charge for the call.
