Anecdotal dosing recommendations for lorazepam (Ativan) vary somewhat but usually range from 0.01 - 0.1 mg per pound 1-3 times a day. Adverse effects include increased appetite, aggression, increased activity/excitement or lethargy/somnolence (sleepiness), and vocalization. This benzodiazepine is most often prescribed as an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety drug) or to treat status epilepticus (seizures activity that won't stop). Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
