Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
no but licking floor to try and make herself vomit. also burping. drinks water from palm only. past 3 days not wanting food. She has had mylanta tablets per a vet
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
cant afford to call. iam disabled
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Meghan Denney, Dog Veterinarian replied 3 months ago

You are right to be concerned. This could be bloat, pancreatitis, something being stuck in her intestines (like a sock or toy etc), and given her age we also need to be concerned there may be a growth internally ( cancer) that is causing these symptoms.

We can add in some Prilosec ( antacid available over the counter). It is dosed at 0.5mg per pound once a day.

The site automatically offers a phone call just ignore that.

I would also see if she will take chicken broth diluted with water so we can try and keep her electrolytes up. You can use a meat dropper/baster to facilitate getting more fluids down Bella.

what will that prosilec do the same as mylanta tablets?
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
can it go away? How will I know if its twisted. What can I do if I cant afford vet?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Meghan Denney, Dog Veterinarian replied 3 months ago

These situations are tough because this could be something really serious going on that only an exam and some imaging or blood work will diagnose.

Bloat can sometimes resolve on its own but sometimes it cannot and if this is something more serious it may not go away on its own. I know this is hard. I am so sorry this is happening.

Is there a low-cost veterinarian you can see in your area? Sometimes shelters will provide low cost veterinarian are.

Can you apply for care credit to help pay for an exam and some diagnostics?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
She already took my savings of 600.00 dollars last month the vet ran blood work and test showed nothing. They said give her tums and something for nausea and said that its and that was a discount
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
how many times a day for the prosilec? Is there anything for pain or discomfort?
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
can u give beano or gas x
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Meghan Denney, Dog Veterinarian replied 3 months ago

Prilosec is once a day and can help with discomfort

Your veterinarian should be able to script our some pain medications like gabapentin since Bella was just seen last month.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
I take prescription gabapentin. can I use that?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Meghan Denney, Dog Veterinarian replied 3 months ago

Yes you can. How much does she weigh?

Gas X she can have 125 mg twice a day

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
60 lbs
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Meghan Denney, Dog Veterinarian replied 3 months ago

Her dose for gabapentin in 200-300 mg every 8 hours as needed for pain. May cause sedation

You are very welcome. If she is not doing better in 24 hours search for low-cost clinics and call some of the shelters and see if they do low cost.
