We have tried using different types of bowls in various locations in the house. He is not drinking. He is currently completing 1 week course of flagyl. He had diarrhea one week ago and prescribed the flagyl. He eats hydrolyzed protein food. He is still urinating. What else should we do?

Hello, this is Dr. Schmidt. Thank you for using JustAnswer. With his sensitive stomach, you are somewhat limited in what you can do to increase his water intake. I would start by adding 1 cup of water to his meals, that way he is forced to increase his water intake. It is not uncommon for some dogs on flagyl to drink less because their bodies are absorbing more moisture from their stool in their colons. This should return back to normal after finishing the flagyl. In the meantime, as long as he's still eating and has a good appetite, I wouldn't worry too much about this symptom because he is on this medication.
