My two 10 year old puggles found their way and ate a 10oz…

Customer Question
Hey Dr Andy-my two...

Hey Dr Andy-my two 10 year old puggles found their way and ate a 10oz package of milk choc/caramel m&m’s. Should I be concerned or just be prepared for extra fun bathroom breaks and vomitting?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. The Expert will know if the Puggle will be able to digest that. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the Puggle?

Thanks Pearl. 2 puggles, male, approximately 30lbs each

Thankfully, there's far more caramel than chocolate in those M & M's. It would take nearly 30 ounces of pure milk chocolate to intoxicate a 30 lb dog with the theobromine in chocolate and so a 10 ounce package of those M & M's won't do the trick. As with ingesting anything unusual transient gastrointestinal distress in the form of inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea can arise but your dogs weren't intoxicated. There's no need to induce emesis or treat in any manner. Please respond with further questions or concerns.
