Our dog has a white heavy mucus or saliva type liquid all over his tongue and upper lip. He also is not closing his mouth when breathing.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. The Expert will know what to do with the drooling. What is the dog's name and age?

His name is ***** ***** he's 10 years old. He's a cocker spaniel beagle mutt that's always been very healthy.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Bootie?

When he drinks water out of the bowl he leaves a residue in the water of white foam type substance.

I am very sorry to see that none of our other Experts have reached out to you before now. I just came online and found that your question had not been addressed. How is your companion at this time?

Still having the severe amount of drool and white mucus/saliva issue. Otherwise he seems ok and still wagging tale and wants treats. Does chew, but excessive licking of lips and slower chewing than normal. Kinda wondering if this might be a dental issue?
Dog Veterinarian: PitRottMommy, Veterinary Nurse replied 6 months ago

There's a strong potential. Do you know when he last had a professional dental cleaning?

Can you share a few pictures of this teeth, particularly the sides and back?

What food does Bootie consume?

Are you seeing any changes in the way he chews?
