Customer Question
Hi, really worried. I...

Hi, really worried. I have an 8 year old American Staffy. For the past 2 days, he has been walking back and forth and will stop mid stride and just stare into space. He vomited this morning and has no appetite today. He just keeps pacing. I took him for a walk earlier and he wasn't his usual high stamina self. He seems happy enough, but not himself. I have, as per vets orders been giving him 3 x Telfast 180mg tablets daily for his skin itch issues. Could the medication be doing this to him?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What sort of animal are we talking about?

American Staffordshire 8 years old

Veterinarian's Assistant: Maybe I'm confused. I thought you had a problem with a pet. Is that correct?

Yes. My dog is an American Staffy

Veterinarian's Assistant: This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about your dog?

Just that he has a lot of skin issues, always has had, but these issues have not been worrying him too much. He has been biting his toes too, but he has always done that.

Sometimes antihistamines can cause a paradoxical reaction causing excitation instead of sedation. If this behavior is new since starting the medication. I would stop it and call your veterinarian and soon as you can to let them know. So they can prescribe something else or recommend an exam. I hope this helps. Please reply with additional questions.
