There are some things we can try prior to using behavior drugs.

I usually recommend that the dogs be separated by a baby gate so they can smell each other and interact without being able to physically interact. That can help start the meeting process over and allow for a positive interaction.

There are also some holistic remedies we can try as well to see if they help. If those fail then your veterinarian can start him on some actually medications that help reduce aggression/anxiety from interactions with other dogs.

The first thing we can try is to put an Adaptil collar on him. Adaptil collars exude calming canine pheromones. You can purchase this at PetSmart or on amazon.com. They last for 30 days.

There are also composure treats which help reduce aggression. You can purchase this on amazon.com.

If those do not help over a period of a couple weeks then ask your veterinarian about starting your dog on a medication called Trazadone. I actually prefer this medication over Xanax.

We can also see some dogs have the opposite effect that we want on Xanax.

Given that it is a controlled drug it is also harder to script out.
