He ate it about ten minutes ago. It was wrapped. Not certain if it was milk or dark. It was a little square, under a tablespoon I'd say. Amigo is resting in his bed. Not unusual .

Hello again,

Now as it is a low dose of chocolate (even if dark), we do have a few options. We can induce vomiting (which I am happy to discuss) to get this all back up. Though we don't strictly need to. You can choose to just monitor and just try to push the wrapper out the other end. If you wish to just do that and offset any GI upset at the same time, you can consider offering a light diet option. Examples of an easily digestible diet include cooked white rice with boiled chicken, boiled white fish, scrambled egg, or meat baby food (as long as its free from garlic or onion powder). Whichever you choose to offer, you can add some fiber (ie a spoonful of tinned pumpkin or all bran) to the food to bulk up his stool and push this through the intestines. As well, you can also add a dose of a GI lubricant (ie cat hairball medication Miralax, lactulose or food grade mineral oil). These can be beneficial for getting the wrapper slipping through the gut. And usually we can get wrappers passed in 24-48 hours for most dogs.

Kind regards,

Dr. B.
