Hi. I have a Bichon Friese and I have just realised she has eaten a bar of chocolate my daughter had in her room. It's milk chocolate and 100g. She weighs 6kg. Is this dangerous for her.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. The Expert will know if the Bichon will be able to digest that. What is the Bichon's name?

Missy

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Missy?

She's just at sleep at the moment and seems fine so far.

I have a chocolate calculator I can check, do you know how long ago she may have eaten it?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

This is a potentially toxic amount that could cause an irregular heart rhythm - if you think it is within the last 2 hours that she ingested it, it would be worth an attempt to make her vomit it up if you have some hydrogen peroxide at home. If it has been more than 2 hours, it would be safest to get her in to be seen by a vet asap for treatment-

You could give 14mls of 3% hydrogen peroxide, if no vomiting within 10-15 minutes it could be repeated, and if still no vomiting, would be best the have her evaluated in person.
