Is Zuri licking the bottom of his paws or the tops?

Are the insides of his paw pads red?

Has he had issues with allergies before?

Licking or chewing on the paws is often due to allergies of some kind. If this just started then it may be environmental allergies. There are some topical therapies that we can try and some home remedies as well as some antihistamine therapies.

Epsom salt soaks twice a day for 7-10 minutes can help soothe the skin.

You can also give 1mg per pound of Benadryl every 8-12 hours as needed to help reduce the itching.

I also use a specific calm spray on my dog's feet ( my own dog suffers from allergies) and this spray really helps. Use it twice a day for the first week then use as needed

You can use regular adult Benadryl and it may make him a little sleepy.

There is also a medication called Apoquel that has been really helpful in managing cases like this if these remedies do not work, but it is a prescription so you will need to take Zuri to your regular veterinarian to see if they think he is a good candidate for it.

The Benadryl should also help with the sneezing.

Good luck with Zuri let me know how he does.

If this was helpful I would be most appreciative if you could take the time to rate my assistance so the site will credit me with helping you

Without a rating (the stars at the top) the site will not compensate me for helping you.

I am also here for additional questions you may have, just reach out to me here and I will be more than happy to assist you.

Kind regards,

Dr. Meghan Denney
