At 10 pounds (4.5 kg) and ingesting 1000 mg this is an ingestion of 222 mg/kg

Levetiracetam is a relatively safe agent. Dogs given 1200 mg/kg/day (approximately 20X therapeutic dosage) developed only salivation and vomiting. There were 114 single agent exposures to levetiracetam reported to the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) during 2009-2013. Of the 108 dogs, 13 were symptomatic with lethargy (69%), hyperthermia (15%), recumbency (15%) and vomiting (15%) being the most common clinical signs.

So likely he will have just the vomiting overnight but if the vomiting is not subsiding, he is becoming increasingly lethargic, warm, non responsive then please consider a veterinary er tonight

Please withhold food and water tonight to minimize further vomiting. Take these precautions the next 24 hours

- Pepcid (famotidine) 0.25 mg per pound every 12 hours for 3 days (wait until 4-6 hours from the vomiting episode)

- Leash walks to help the medicine pass more readily of >15 minutes if he is up to it

- Tomorrow begin a bland diet of white rice and lean boiled meat such as chicken in small more frequent meals but waiting at least 12 hours after vomiting has subsided if there is this symptom

Again indications your dog should be seen by a veterinary er sooner include: sticky gums that are pale, yellow, blue, purple, temperature rectally >103.5, progressive lethargy with less responsiveness to you, vomiting or diarrhea that includes blood, resting respiratory rate (breaths per minute) >60, swollen abdomen.
